Range Construction Survey
We included a survey in the July newsletter looking for your feedback on how to proceed with financing for the construction of the remainder of the new ranges. So far, we've received 98 responses, and they're still trickling in.  The club has received some great suggestions.  Here are a few in shortened form: have a raffle; ask for donations; have some dollar fee for guests; have an NRA booth at the gun shows; have a public shooting event and charge an admission fee; have a dinnerl assess new members an initiation fee; assess a fee for missed work days; apply for a range grant from the NRA. All of these comments would work. What we need is a club member to present what they want, become the chairperson for it, and round up the manpower to accomplish it.
If you haven't already, please complete the survey and send it in. We'd like to hear from everyone. If you don't have a copy of the July issue handy, call the club information line and leave a message with your e-mail or regular mail address, and Rex Gismond will send one to you.

2004 Match Directors Wanted
Now is the time for those considering being a match director in 2004 to come forward. The match schedule needs to be completed before the end of the year. We'd like to avoid the last minute panic search for directors, so if you're interested, please contact Paul Stiedle or James Squires as soon as possible. Please note that each match must also have an assistant match director who can run the match if the regular match director in unavailable.
Also, the club voted to allow Paul Steidle to host a dinner for all match directors. The date will be announced in a future issue of the newsletter.

Member Alert! There are no trash cans on Benton Gun Club Ranges. We have burn barrels ONLY on ranges 1, 2, 3, and 4. Please place your unwanted targets, ammo boxes, cardboard, paper and other items that will burn in these barrels. If it will not burn, please take it home with you and dispose of it properly. Help keep our range clean so the people who work range maintenance can use their time for things like improvements instead of cleanup!
