Not in A Match? You Can Still Shoot
It's not true. It appears that some club members are under the impression that the entire range is closed when there is a match being held. Only the range on which the match is being held is closed to "open" shooting. The rest of the ranges are open. The only exceptions to this are when the IR 50/50 benchrest match is being held on range #1, range #2 will be closed. Also, range #1 is closed when the high-power rifle silhouette match is being held on range #2. These adjoining ranges are closed for safety reasons since there is no safety berm between range #1 and range #2.

Bylaws Meeting In The Works
We will be holding a meeting sometime in the spring, to consider possible changes to the club bylaws. If you have ideas or suggestions, we'd like to hear about them. Please contact any one of the club officers, or call the club information line and leave a message. Contact numbers are listed below.

New Members
We welcomed seventeen new members at the March meeting. They are Joel Atchley, Daniel Bryson, Mac Bryson, Billy Coke, Kenneth Coleman, Randy Davenport, Gary Ferrell, Michael Hutchison, Butch Ivy Jr., John Linin, Bill Mathews, Danny Mcneese, Matthew Mayhan, Michael Sparks, Steve Sparks, Charles Snider  & Michael Stumbaugh. Glad to have you with us, gentlemen!
Please note that all new members must attend the mandatory range and safety orientation before using the range. You

Evening IDPA Match Scheduled
A motion was made, seconded and passed at the March club meeting to have an evening IDPA match on Saturday, April 5 at 6:00 pm. There will be four courses of fire. The cost will be $10.00.

Friends of NRA Banquet Volunteer Needed
We are looking for a volunteer to organize and coordinate a Friends of the NRA banquet to be hosted by the Benton Gun Club. Hosting a banquet would raise funds for the club and put is in a better position to obtain future NRA range grants. If you're interested, please contact Paul Stiedle at 888-2930. Rex Gismond has information on the NRA grant programs. He can be reached by leaving a message on the club information line at 315-3071.

Range Work
Another work day was held on March 29 to install the gate and perform other tasks that couldn't be completed in February due to the cold weather.
A motion was made, seconded and passed at the March club meeting to purchase one roll of underlayment to be place on the parking areas of range #6 and covered with SB2 gravel. SB2 will also be placed on the parking area of range #7. Eight loads of SB2 will be needed.
The next regularly scheduled work day is set for June 8. There was some discussion at the January club meeting to assess an annual fee against members who do not attend work days, or to give a membership discount to those who do show up. It was finally resolved to bring this up at the next club bylaws meeting.

For Sale
Club member Darrel Allen is offering a S&W model 25 pistol for sale. It's blued in .45 long colt, and features a six-inch barrel, with target hammer, trigger and sights. Excellent condition, and the price is $425. Call Darrel at 501-888-9320 or 501-779-1529.

Match Directors: Keep the Gate Unlocked
Directors, when you get to the range for a match, please take the lock off of the gate and keep it with you until the match is over. We've been having a problem with folks locking the gate behind them on match days. Matches are open to the public, and it's kind of hard for them to attend when the gate is locked since they don't have keys to the range!
