Public Sight-in Day Scheduled
The club approved a proposal to host a public sight-in day at the range on October 11 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. This event will be open to the general public, and will be advertised in local newspapers.

Officer Elections Coming Up
Please remember that this fall we'll be electing new officers for the coming year. It's not too soon to consider running, or to think about making a nomination.

New Members
We welcomed nine new members at the July meeting. They are Terry Black, Don Clark, Charles Fletcher, Mike Henry, Michael Maxheimer, Kelley Parker, Sam Spearman, John Wallis, and Allan Yearry. Glad to have you with us, guys!
Please note that all new members must attend the mandatory range and safety orientation before using the range. You are not a fully qualified member until you attend the orientation.
Also, don't forget that all new members are entitled to shoot in one club match per shooting discipline free of charge. Look over that match schedule, and come out and experience the fun of competition shooting.

Bylaws Vote Coming In August
The Benton Gun Club Bylaws Committee presented its list of proposed changes to the club at the July 14 club meeting. The items that are being changed are:

· When new members will get membership cards and keys.
· The month when club officers will be elected.
· Updates of the range rules.
· When shooting events will be open to the public.
· Sanctioning bodies for club matches.
· Clarifies how bylaws changes may be submitted.
· Add descriptions and usage restrictions for the new ranges.
· Provide conditions under which fully automatic weapons may be fired.

The full-auto item may or may not be presented for a vote, depending on the outcome that Rex is doing for a potential new insurance carrier. If you would like to see the exact wording of each proposed change, please call the club information line and leave a message with your name and address. A copy of the changes will be mailed to you.
The vote on the proposed changes will be held at a bylaws meeting immediately following the regular club meeting on August 11. Please make an effort to attend this important meeting.

Range Construction Survey
On the back page of this newsletter you'll find a survey asking for your feedback on how to finance the remaining construction of the new ranges. Please complete the survey and mail it back to the club P. O. box. (In case you expected to get this newsletter by e-mail, please note that we sent it to everyone the old-fashioned way so that all members would have a printed copy of the survey.)

Member Alert! There are no trash cans on Benton Gun Club Ranges. We have burn barrels ONLY on ranges 1, 2, 3, and 4. Please place your unwanted targets, ammo boxes, cardboard, paper and other items that will burn in these barrels. If it will not burn, please take it home with you and dispose of it properly. Help keep our range clean so the people who work range maintenance can use their time for things like improvements instead of cleanup!
