and in the newsletter.
Of course, this event won't be a success without help from you. If you would like to volunteer, please contact one of the club officers at the numbers shown below.

Safety Re-Orientations Required
As mentioned previously, the club is requiring all members to go through the safety orientation again. The range has changed a lot in the years since the orientation sessions were begun, and it was felt that everyone could use a refresher.
The re-orientation will be required for all members who were in the club as of May 2005. (Any members who joined after that have already received an updated version of the orientation.) Members will have until the end of 2006 to retake it. You MUST have your membership card with you when you take the orientation.
James Squires will be at the range to give the re-orientations on the first and third Saturday of each month at 2:00 p.m., and on the second Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. In addition, the following people are also administering re-orientations, and will be available after club matches: J. L. Squires, Jr., Leroy Squires, Rex Gismond, Mark Boeckman, Pat Holsted (at noon following the monthly IDPA matches), Paul Stiedle, Larry Morgan, John Watkins, and Bill Morris.
To make arrangements for retaking the safety orientation at some other time, contact James Squires at 847-2147.
NOTE TO THOSE WHO ARE GIVING ORIENTATIONS:  After you give a member the re-orientation, please

Range and Match News
A motion was approved at the February meeting to obtain $1,200.00 to cover some of the expenses for the smallbore silhouette regional match, coming up on March 18. This was a follow-up vote, to approve the motion that was originally submitted at the January meeting. (As required by our bylaws, all expenditures exceeding $1,000.00 must be approved at one meeting and confirmed at a follow-up meeting.)
Also, Youth Program coordinator Chuck Anderson made a motion to purchase $33.00 worth of student and teacher handbooks for the youth program. The motion was approved.
In addition, James Squires made a motion to spend $350.00 for another set of half-scale smallbore rifle silhouette animals. This motion was also approved.
In other range news, it was reported that the dirt work on lower range 4 has been completed.
Finally, Frank Bray reported on the SHOT Show, held last week in Las Vegas. Frank attended the show along with George Rhode and Hugh Burnett, and they worked to obtain sponsors for this September's Arkansas State Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Championship. They report that there will be many items donated by the sponsors.

2006 Membership Cards Mailed
The new gate key and 2006 membership cards were mailed on February 6. The new key is made of brass and is marked with "M27" on one side. The gate locks were changed on February 14. If you have not received your new card and key, please call the club information line and leave a message.

Donation Drive Planned
Pat Holstead reported that Shooters101.com is holding a donation drive that will give away a CZ 75B 9mm pistol, a SigTac tactical vest, and a Fobus Holster and magazine carrier. There will be 300 tickets, and donations will be $5.00 per ticket. 100% of the proceeds will be used to purchase steel props that will be donated by Shooters101.com to the Benton Gun Club. BGC Festival Planned
A motion was approved at the November meeting to host a Benton Gun Club Festival on Saturday, April 29, 2006. This event will be open to the public and will promote all matches and shooting disciplines. Club members will provide the guns and targets, and we hope to obtain donations for all the ammunition. Further details will be announced at the club meetings
